4/12/2007 - defeat and TRIUMPH in the form of press!
hello again everybody---
Just an update--- the Messenger hit the stands today and get this--- I'm the centerfold! Double page spread AND in color!
It's not as pretty as the printed version, but if you can't find a messenger box, don't live in Baltimore, or just prefer to read things on a screen,
the story is out today and online as well.
go to www.baltimoremessenger.com to see it.
---------------
Hello dear green-friends!
I suppose we should address the giant green elephant in the corner of the studio first...
Thank you ALL SO MUCH for your attention, support and keyboard ballot punching, but the results are in, and over 3500 some votes later, in what I've been told was a presidentially close race, I have not won the plush electoral vote and thus, have not won a Softie Award. (collective sigh).
While my first instinct is to blame Florida or a hanging chad somewhere, my second, and stronger instinct is to say, "it was a massive honor to be nominated". This was only the first year of the Softie Awards, and with literally thousands of entries from 14 different countries, being one of the 5 finalists in TWO of the 13 categories is pretty spectacular. Next year, we WILL conquer the Softies. I can feel it.
Special thanks to everyone who voted (if you emailed me to say so, you now find yourself in possession of a handy 10% off coupon... not too shabby!); and a very "cool" shout out to bmorecool.com who once again proved its own coolness with a special link and blurb about my nomination. Thanks.
On to brighter things; get out your planners and write down some dates.
Press!
Thursday, April 12th--- the day the next issue of The Baltimore Messenger will appear... it is also the day the issue will feature an article about ME! (and maybe Shiloh). How fun is that? Everyone I've talked to or met from the Messenger has been lovely and I would like to publicly thank them for their time and energy.
THANKS!
I'll make sure to get at least one copy I can scan and email to people who don't live in Maryland (if you want to read it)... or, it might even be accessible online. The paper's website does post articles, it seems... maybe we'll get lucky.

Stores!
No date to write down here, but as of February, greenstarstudio has been happily residing in a new retail spot (we're up to SIX!)--- The Muse, a funky little artists' gallery, collective, good-stuff-hot-spot. Lots of great work here (not just mine-- check it out!). For now, they are carrying all sorts of greenstarstuff: frames, boxes, stools, pins, magnets, cards etc. If you've never been to Frederick---- go. Downtown is super cute.

Shows!
Yes, its here--- the Spring/Summer (or as I like to call it Sprummer... by the way, why is it 30 degrees outside? hello? April? I put my sweaters away)
And as we always do when Sprummer rolls around... we pop open the the tent and make a scene at a local art show.
Here's where you can find greenstarstudio this Sprummer:
April 21: Star Spangled Banner Museum/ Flag House Craft Show (downtown B'More, off President and Pratt) 10am- 4pm
"Do you have something you're not sure is trash or treasure? Bring it to the Star-Spangled Banner Museum and have it examined by one of several regional antiques experts. Stay to find a new treasure among the creative wears of a variety of Maryland craftspeople. Finish with baked goods and refreshments in the Flag House garden."

New Stuff!
This isn’t just a clever ploy--- but I am working on a few new products/ projects that will premiere at the Towsontown Spring Festival (but MIGHT get a sneak preview at the Flag House show).
Shameless Begging!
My webmaster moved to Africa, and I am looking for help to revamp/ tweak my website a little. If you, or anyone you know is interested in making a little extra dough, or working for art, and knows anything about (allow me to use quotes here since these words mean nothing to me) “ASP code” or “MySQL Databases”, please send me an email. I’d rather pay someone I know than a stranger in a fancy office somewhere. I’ve been told what I’m looking for is a pretty easy job.... provided you aren’t ME.
Alright everyone; it’s been great talking to you. Go out and get a copy of the Messenger. Come see me at the Flag House. Fix my website for me.
